australia day two

Thursday 20.10.11
I've almost heard a lot about the famous opera house in Sidney, so of course I had to see it. It had been a shame to come home without seeing it. And it kept up with my expectations, no doubt about that! It was.. beautiful in every way. The design of the house, which I've seen loads of pictures of, was even prettier than in the photographs. Inside it was so nice aswell, and I'm so glad that I were there.
The opera house is a huge building, it contains not less than 1000 rooms, including five theaters, five studios for practice, four restaurants, six bars, two main halls and loads of souvenir shops. I ate dinner at one of the restaurants, it was quite expensive - but so worth it!

australia day one

Wednesday 13.10.11
I propably didn't mention it yesterday, but I only had one day in New Delhi, unfortunately. But, on the other side - I've arrived Sidney, which is - for those who didn't know - the biggest city in Australia. This is the only city I've visited which is not a capital city! It is a nice city, and very hot - even now in October! The things I associate with Australia is kangaroos and koala bears, so I had to see them. Sidney lays by the coast, and all the animals are like in the middle of the country, and everyone says it's the most dangerous place to be. I bet they mean when someone is all alone, but I didn't think it was scary because of our very nice tour guide! We saw a lot of the animals everyone expects to see when they are in Australia; kangaroos, koala bears, platypus, condors and so on. Loved it!

india day two

Tuesday 18.10.11
ہیلو!
Ah, what a day! Today I thought I could give you some information about the city I'm in before I start telling you what I've done. New Dehli is, as you propably know, the capital city of India. Most of the population, thus 80%, are hindus. 12% are muslims, and the others are something else. It's a whole lot of main languages, 18 to be precicely. But fortunately one of them is English, so I'm doing okay. Instead of using pounds, kroner and so on - they use something called rupi. A houndred rupi are nearly the same as fifteen Norwegian kroner. Otherwise I've got the expression that this is a relatively safe city, it's apparently not much violence. Thieves and frauds are quite usual though, so watch your handbag!

Today I visited the Humayun's Tomb, wich were incredible. It is a great building, and a symbol of Persian architecture and Indian traditions. Several rulers of the city are buried there. It was 250 rupies per head, which is not much. I really recommend this attraction if you are visiting New Delhi, just saying.

india day one

Monday 17.10.11
It's late here and I'm tired after the longest flight I've ever been on. But it's nice here! The people are so friendly and beautiful; their hair, clothes and look are stunning. Everyone is so pretty! I've just walked around in the streets, and I already like the city. Tomorrow I am going to experience as much as I can - I bet there are loads of things to see here! Looking forward to it.

airport, again

Sunday 16.10.11
This is going to be a long flight. I'm going to india! Can't wait to experience a whole new and different culture than I'm used to. New Delhi it is.

As I said: Long flight.

london day three

Saturday 15.10.11
The crown jewels // Tower of London

One word: Beautiful

london day two

Friday 14.10.11
Like I said, I spent the whole day just walking around yesterday. But today I've experienced some culture. I took the underground from right beside my hotel, and went on a tour with the London Eye. I've done it before, but everytime it is as good as always. And no visit to London is complete without seeing the military tradition, The Queen Guard. It changes in the Forecourt inside the gates of Buckingham Palace at 11.30am, every single day. At least in the summer; in the winter it's every other day. I have to say; get there early! It's a lot of people who wants to see, so to get a great view that's smart.

In the afternoon, I went to the West Piazza of the Covent Garden Marked, which has street preformers who entertains every afternoon. Because they have to go through an audition to get to preform there, you propably understands that it was quite a show! They did not hesitate to use the audience in their preformences, so I had to pretend that I was very good with horses, and sit on the back of one of them. It was kind of embarassing, because I travel alone and I had no one to laugh with afterwards, hehe. But, it was fun - and it was something I will remember!

Hope you are doing great!

london day one

Thursday 13.10.11
I love London.

I have just enjoyed the lovely sounds and smells of London today. It gives me butterflies in my stomach and a smile on my face even thought I am all alone here. Wonderful.

airport

Wednesday 12.11.10
Ate a lovely breakfast on a lovely cafe, but I can't remember the name. I've used the whole day to just shop the last things that I need, and the rest I have spent packing. Now it is late, and tomorrow I will be in my favourite city: LONDON! Can't wait. I hope you can't, either.

scotland day three

Tuesday 11.10.11
I started the day with walking around in the city again, but that's not what I'm going to tell you about today! I've had the most awesome experience this evening, can't wait to tell you about it!

I, ladies and gentlemen, took an Edinbrugh Ghost Tour! Amazing. For years it have happened dark and mysterious things in the streets of Edinburgh, and in the darkest streets of the old town of Edinburgh, we were taken for the tour. It was so, so scary - but still, so cool. Narrow streets, ancient buildings and tiny closes made the town scary after the sun went town. This is something everyone have to do when they visit Edinburgh, it's no wonder! You have to.

I hope I am able to sleep tonight.
Maria

scotland day two

Monday 10.10.11
I've heard that the greatest thing to do in Edinburgh, is to visit the Edinburgh Castle. So I did! And I can understand why they are saying it, because it was spectacular! It had the most amazing view across Edinburgh, all the way around the castle. I walked up the Royal Mile, and got the feeling of the history when i approached the castle. It was also a kind of touching; there was a massive war memorial inside, to honor all the men who lost their lives when they fought for they country. The crown jewels were also displayed inside, they were beautiful.

After my visit in the castle, I walked down Princes Street, Edinburgh's biggest shopping street. It was loads of shops, and also buildings from the Old Town, I enjoyed both hehe. Tomorrow is my last day here, but I'm really looking forward to it! I've made big plans, stay tuned and you will see.

scotland day one

Sunday 09.10.11
Ah, Edinburgh! What a wonderful city. I arrived here this morning, in Scottish time. I'm so tired. Anyway. I'm living on a cheap hotel this time, so it's actually not anything to tell about. It's.. yeah, cheap.
Today I've already started to experience the capital city of Scotland. It's beautiful! It's loads of attractions, but still; if you want to just relax in a nice park, you don't have to go far to find it, either!
My first stop today was the City Art Centre, because I love art. It was beautiful! The museum works hard to get their exhibitions to fit the visitors all the time. Most of the visitors want to see favourites from the City's National Recognized Collection of Scottish art, which are work of local or international workers, or exhibitions from other countries. Historic and modern photographies, Contemporary arts and designs, architectures and the built enviroments are staged in a rolling program. I loved it!

After my visit at the museum, I ate lunch at Cafe Jacues, a lovely and warm cafe in the heart of Edinbourgh. It was modern, but still traditional. Liked it!

I haven't done much more which is worth telling about, so I'll just blog tomorrow night and tell you more about my experiences in Edinbourgh.

USA day three

Saturday 08.10.11
Hello fellows!
It's 3pm, and I'm soon going to the airport. I just had to make a quick update first, of course!
Today woke up quite early, and ate breakfast on the lovely hotel I'm living on; 60 Thompson. It's a very modern hotel, and every room has a flatscreen TV's, iPod docking, a DVD-player and a safe. And when I opened the door to the bathroom, a bathrobe and slippers were waiting for me. I love it! The hotel also offers a bar on the roof, and the personal is very nice. I love it here! I actually wonder why it's "only" four stars! I would give it five, hihi.

Anyways. I visited the Guggenheim Museum today. It was georgeous, really! A whole lot of beautiful and different arts. I wish I'd planned to stay here a bit longer, but i thought that one whole day was enaugh, in a big city like this. I thought I would get tired, but I was wrong! I have to visit the Big Apple later, no doubt about that!

The picture is from the Thannhauser Collection (Guggenheim Museum)

Next time I write, I'll be in Scotland. I'm staying there a bit longer, I bet it's a whole lot of things to experience! Stay tuned!

USA day two

Friday 07.10.11
What a day! It's 10 pm and I just got in, after a long and wonderful day! I've visited both The Empire State Building and the Statue Of liberty, it was loads and loads of people at both of them, but it was totally worth it.

USA day one

Thursday 06.10.11
Hi! I have not got the chance to get on internet the last few days, so I'm just going to pretend that this is thursday and so on. So, here it goes.
I arrived the airport in the United States, more specifically New York, at 8 am, after a pleasant journey, so I had the whole day to check in on the hotel I had ordered and just walk around and get to know the city. I had breakfast at a very nice cafe slash resturant, named Pink Pony. I must add that the name was kind of attractive, that's why i choose it. They had very comforting chairs and the staff was laidback. A great place to just sit down and watch the life outside the windows pass by!
The rest of the day I spent walking around in stores, and planning what to do tomorrow. I can't wait to see what New York has to offer!
